He is Evaluator of the Ethics and Transparency Committee (CET) of the UPB.
In addition to directing the LIComH, at UPB he is undergraduate professor of the subjects Political Philosophy, Communication Theories II, Contemporary Literature, Political Communication and Art Analysis II, Research Methods and Techniques, Graduate Workshop, among others.
He has written academic articles in the journals Palgrave Communications published by Springer Nature, L’Âge d’or, L’Âge d’or, Investigación & desarrollo, Ciencia y cultura y Punto cero, among others. He is the author of chapters in the books Historia del Cine en Bolivia 1897-2017, La crítica y el poeta. Adela Zamudio, Cine Boliviano. Historia Directores Películas y Small Cinemas in Global Markets: Genres, Identities, Narratives, among others. He is the author, with Santiago Espinoza, of the books Una cuestión de fe. Historia (y) crítica del cine boliviano de los últimos treinta años (1980-2010) and El cine de la nación clandestina. Aproximación a la producción cinematográfica boliviana de los últimos 25 años (1983-2008).
He has published texts on cinema, literature and politics in different media, including in the Spanish magazines Caimán. Cuadernos de Cine, Film-Historia y Panenka. El fútbol que se lee, in the Bolivian edition of Le monde diplomatique, in the Ecuadorian newspaper Expreso and in different Bolivian media. He founded the cultural magazine La Ramona of the Bolivian newspaper Opinión and was its editor for almost ten years. With different teams of journalists, he won the Medal “Huáscar Cajías” of the National Journalism Prize, the National Journalism Prize in the press category and, twice, the Plurinational Prize Eduardo Abaroa in the category of cultural journalism.
He has given conferences and participated in various colloquia on literature, cinema and politics, among which the following stand out: the IX Congreso de la asociación de estudios bolivianos, “Andes digitales : Le cinéma des pays andins à l’ère numérique” (Paris), “Democracia representativa y vida cotidiana: ‘Sobre la (im)posible relación con los otros’” (Cochabamba) and “Small Cinemas in Transition: Small, Smaller, Smallest” (New York).
Before being affiliated to UPB, he taught undergraduate and graduate degrees at the Universidad Mayor de San Simón, at the Bolivian Catholic University and at the Luis Espinal Higher Institute of Philosophy and Humanities, subjects related to literary and cinematographic theory and contemporary thought.
