Curriculum: UPB uses a nontraditional modular academic curriculum, called the Professional Performance
Based Academic Model, unique in Bolivia, which has been fashioned after a program used at the University
of Utah. This model emphasizes the development of professional, technical, human and competitive competencies
in an integrated program of study.
The academic schedule calls for students to take only two courses at a time in order to improve concentration in the learning process. Each subject is completed after 16 to 40 consecutive working days (depending on the number of credits) in periods of two hours each day.
Stressing the concept of "learning by doing", the teaching process is reinforced by student internships that take place in industry, service companies and governmental agencies all over the country and abroad whenever possible. While there is a maximum class size of thirty-five students, average class size is fifteen students.
